Estoril vs Boavista Betting Analysis
Mid-table clash over in Portugal this midweek as 14th-placed Estoril look to put a gap between themselves and the relegation spots as they take on 9th-placed Boavista on Thursday.
That gap may be easier said than done however as Estoril come into this one off the back of three straight defeats, failing to score a single goal in any of those matchups as well.
Boavista meanwhile are in some patchy form themselves, winning just one of their last four league games overall, and have one of the league’s worst roads records also, with just two wins secured away from home all season.
Both Estoril and Boavista have a split W2, D1, L2 record in the Estadio Antonio Coimbra da Mota over recent seasons, with Boavista taking the most recent meeting with a 3-2 win here last February.
Boavista’s Road Issues
While Boavista rank top six in the league in home form this season, things haven’t been quite so rosy for them on the road, registering 14th in the league overall with just 7 points banked all season.
A large part of those issues for Boavista have come from an attack that has netted just 2 goals from open play on the road all year, with only relegation-battling Maritimo scoring less.
With the league’s 3rd lowest offensive xG rating on the road this season also, Boavista really need to find a way to start scoring more away from home in order to avoid slipping further down the table this season.
Estoril Doing Things The Hard Way
While Estoril’s numbers have certainly failed to impress this year, they have been doing things the hard way over in the Portuguese Primeira Liga, ranking as the only team to fail to score either a single counter-attacking goal or set-piece goal at home all season.
That means while Estoril have scored the 3rd fewest goals at home overall in the league this season, they actually rank top half in goals scored from open play and could prove to be dangerous here on Thursday against a Boavista defense that has failed to keep a clean sheet across any of their previous eleven games.
Estoril vs Boavista Prediction
This game should be an incredibly close one to call on Thursday and there’s little to separate either side in terms of the data either.
Estoril’s home expected goal differential is almost identical to Boavista’s road expected goal differential this season, and draws have played out in three of their previous seven meetings across all venues as well, with even Boavista’s 3-2 win last February coming in the final five minutes of play.
Take the outright draw on Thursday in the matchup between Boavista and Estoril over in the Portuguese Primeira Liga.
